What is The 1000 Cranes Project?

Who We Are

The 1000 Cranes Project is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization (EIN: 99-1557859) that was founded by Dr. Chris Walinski in April of 2024. We are dedicated to providing

Education and Awareness About Prostate Cancer.

The 1000 Cranes story is based on the life of a young girl in Hiroshima who died of leukemia after initially surviving the atomic bomb blast. You can read more about Sadako Sasaki here: Why 1000 Cranes?

Our Story

1 in every 8 men will be told by their Doctors that they have prostate cancer. That's the exact same number as women with breast cancer. Among men of African descent, the statistic is 1 in 6, and Black men are TWICE as likely to die from this disease. More men than ever are being diagnosed with advanced stage prostate cancer. In fact, 822 men will be diagnosed TODAY. AND. EVERY, DAY. Please help us!

Awareness and education. That's our goal. If more men understood just how simple it is to check for prostate cancer, more men could be diagnosed much earlier. A simple blood test (PSA test) once a year will do it.

IF (a) You are 40 years of age and anyone in your immediate family (parents or siblings) has had either prostate or breast cancer, GET CHECKED ASAP!!!

(b) You are of African descent and 40 years old, GET CHECKED ASAP!!!

Any man approaching 50 years old: Ask your Doctor about a PSA test at your next physical exam. JUST DO IT!!!
